About Orthopaedics

Fueled by innovation at the intersection of biology and technology, we’re developing the next generation of smarter, less invasive, more personalized treatments. Our Orthopaedics teams help keep more than 6 million people moving each year while delivering clinical and economic value to surgeons and healthcare systems. Our teams build solutions for joint reconstruction; trauma and craniomaxillofacial; sports, extremities, and elective foot and ankle; spine; and robotics and digital surgery.

Purpose

Lead and transform the finished goods and direct material planning functions across the Leeds, Blackpool and Oberdorf sites. The manager will own site-level supply planning, inventory strategy and replenishment to sustainably deliver customer service targets while reducing cost and lead time. This role drives continuous improvement, digital enablement of planning processes, and cross-site alignment with the Global Supply Chain to mitigate supply risk and accelerate new product introductions.

You will be responsible for:

  • Long-term planning & performance: Develop and implement a consolidated supply planning process for Leeds, Blackpool and Oberdorf that aligns with global Plan objectives and site manufacturing plans. Own planning performance and continuous improvement targets; translate global targets into site-level plans and actions.
  • Operational delivery: Ensure end-to-end planning and replenishment (finished goods and direct materials) deliver required schedule attainment and OTIF for customers. Proactively identify supply risks and put in place contingency plans to protect service levels. Optimize inventory across raw material, WIP and finished goods to balance service and working capital.
  • Cost, lead time & supplier performance: Lead initiatives to reduce material cost (COGS) and supplier/manufacturing lead times; implement demand-focused and lean replenishment practices. Own intercompany replenishment and lead-time management; implement mitigations for constrained supply.
  • New product introduction & Transfer Projects: Lead planning activities for new product launches and/or product transfers, ensuring readiness of supply, validated lead times and inventory build plans to meet launch achievements.
  • Systems & data-driven improvement: Drive deployment and adoption of planning systems (ERP/MRP enhancements, sophisticated planning tools) and analytics to improve forecast accuracy, decision support and efficiency. Lead process projects that automate planning tasks, reduce manual work and increase transparency.
  • People leadership & collaboration: Lead, mentor and develop the planning teams across sites; build capability, clear accountabilities and resilient resourcing plans. Collaborate cross-functionally (Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, Logistics, Global Supply Chain) to resolve issues, bring up risks and deliver network-level improvements.
  • Compliance & risk management: Ensure compliance with EHS, GMP and company policies; act on internal/external audit findings and maintain required quality records.

Core metrics will include but not be limited to: Schedule attainment (NRP-A, CMPS), OTIF to internal customers (DC), Inventory: days of supply / $ targets, Cost metrics: COGS improvements and cost avoidance, Budget accuracy and adherence to plan.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Proven experience in Purchasing / Supply Planning / Warehouse or related roles with demonstrated responsibility for finished goods and direct material planning.
  • B.S. Degree or equivalent experience or an MBA with a non-business Bachelor.
  • Solid understanding of ERP and MRP systems; sophisticated Excel and MS Office skills.
  • Experience in manufacturing planning and distribution networks—preferably within Orthopaedics/Medical device or highly regulated industries.
