Job Overview: The Manager, EMEA Trade Lead is responsible for leading and executing trade compliance strategy across the EMEA region to ensure adherence to applicable customs, import/export, and trade regulations. This role partners closely with Supply Chain, Finance, Legal, and Commercial teams to enable compliant and efficient cross-border operations while supporting business growth. The position plays a critical role in mitigating regulatory risk, strengthening governance, and driving continuous improvement across EMEA markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead EMEA trade compliance activities in alignment with global trade policies and regional regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the regional subject matter expert on customs, import/export controls, tariffs, free trade agreements, and trade regulations.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Legal, and Commercial teams to support compliant product movement and business operations.
  • Oversee trade compliance processes, controls, and documentation to ensure audit readiness and regulatory adherence.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate trade-related risks, including the impact of regulatory changes on EMEA operations.
  • Support internal and external audits, regulatory inquiries, and engagements related to trade compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, data quality, and compliance governance.
  • Provide guidance and training to regional stakeholders on trade compliance requirements and best practices.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, Finance, or a related field (required). Master's degree, MBA, or advanced coursework in trade, logistics, or compliance (preferred).

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Typically 6-8 years of experience in trade compliance, customs, supply chain, or a related field, with regional or global scope.
  • Strong knowledge of EMEA trade regulations, customs requirements, and import/export controls.
  • Experience leading or influencing cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess regulatory risk and implement effective compliance controls.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex regulatory topics clearly.

Preferred:

  • Experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with global trade systems, ERP platforms, and compliance reporting tools.
  • Experience supporting or leading regulatory audits and inspections.
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Experience working across multiple EMEA markets and cultures.

Other:

  • Language: English proficiency required; additional European languages preferred.
  • Travel: Up to 20% international travel within EMEA.
  • Certifications: Trade compliance or customs-related certifications preferred.
