The UK hematology landscape is evolving rapidly. New treatments are expected to be brought to patients, expanding options across treatment pathways and advanced therapies. Success depends on strong commercial execution and customer-centric engagement.
Overall purpose of the role: Drive commercial performance, strategic sales execution, and field force effectiveness across the hematology portfolio while leading a high-performing national sales organisation.
Main areas of responsibility:
- Strategic Sales Leadership & Team Development: Lead, inspire, and develop high-performing sales teams via first-line Regional Business Managers/National Sales Managers to deliver against sales targets and strategic objectives. Coach and mentor National Sales Managers to foster excellence in execution, competitive mindset, and continuous improvement. Champion a culture of performance, resilience, and compliance across the sales organization. Provide quarterly feedback and performance reviews to ensure alignment with strategic goals and personal development plans.
- Sales Performance & Brand Execution: Maintain strategic oversight of the hematology portfolio, ensuring sales plans and implementation remain aligned with therapy area strategies and brand plans. Coach first line sales leaders to partner with Senior Brand Managers and Cross Functional Team to share field insights and shape strategic and tactical plans. Own the sales performance narrative across Hematology UK, leveraging dashboards, KPIs, and visual analytics to track and communicate progress. Collaborate with other TA Head of Sales to refine and optimize sales incentive plans.
- Go-to-Market Strategy & Customer Engagement Optimization: Work collaboratively across OpCo to assess and prioritise sales and related field initiatives from concept through to implementation including digital and AI-driven customer engagement tools. Assess and optimize sales team structure, targeting, and resource allocation to maximize impact and efficiency. Drive change management initiatives, ensuring consistent and sustained adoption of new tools and processes. Partner with Analytics to integrate advanced technologies into sales workflows for enhanced decision-making and operational agility.
- Organizational Influence & Best Practice Sharing: Contribute to shaping UK sales force best practices, pioneering innovative, customer-centric engagement strategies. Act as a visible and influential leader across the organization, proactively addressing issues, escalating risks, and driving resolution. Build organizational buy-in by seeking to understand stakeholder perspectives and aligning initiatives with broader business goals.
- Compliance & Ethical Standards: Ensure all sales activities adhere to ABPI guidelines and uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct and patient-centricity.
Experience & Skills: Senior sales leadership experience in pharma/biotech, strong commercial acumen, NHS understanding, and cross-functional leadership. Previous experience in Oncology and/or Hematology is preferred.
Qualifications: ABPI qualified; degree in life sciences, business or equivalent.
Other Requirements: UK driving licence; national travel required.
