This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in digital marketing, especially social media content creation, a creative eye, and good time management skills.
A Day in the Life of a Marketing assistant apprentice:
- Morning focus: You start by exploring trending TikTok formats and Instagram content, bookmarking ideas that resonate with students which you could work around - especially around career choices and balancing study with life.
- Content creation: Next, you edit short-form video highlights from recent campus visits, adding captions and tailoring posts for different student life stages before scheduling them across platforms.
- Event coordination: Midday brings planning for the annual careers fair calendar. You research fairs in Birmingham and Leeds, request exhibitor costs, and update the events tracker to keep schedules smooth and clash-free.
- Campaign development: In the afternoon, you draft email copy for final-year students, spotlighting career tools and upcoming webinars to help them feel confident about their next steps.
- Wrap-up routine: Before logging off, you clear inbox enquiries, prepare tomorrow’s worklist, and check the scheduling platform to ensure everything is set to publish as planned.

- Interest in digital marketing, social media, and events is essential.
- Basic IT literacy, with a keen interest in learning digital content creation tools and e-learning authoring platforms.
- The ability to handle multiple tasks, concurrently and meeting their deadlines without detriment to their success or quality, using Microsoft office applications for project/task/communication management.
- Basic understanding of email or marketing software would be beneficial as would some experience with content creation (video, visual, or copy).
- Willingness to travel and stay overnight: as required for careers fairs, campus visits, and other key events.
