We have an amazing opportunity for a Marketing apprentice (level 3) to join our Marketing team. This is an ideal stepping-stone for someone keen to build a career in digital marketing, events, or communications. You'll gain hands-on experience across social media, email marketing, and events while learning how to deliver marketing campaigns that attract and retain students throughout their university journey and into employment or further study.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in digital marketing, especially social media content creation, a creative eye, and good time management skills.

A Day in the Life of a Marketing assistant apprentice:

  • Morning focus: You start by exploring trending TikTok formats and Instagram content, bookmarking ideas that resonate with students which you could work around - especially around career choices and balancing study with life.
  • Content creation: Next, you edit short-form video highlights from recent campus visits, adding captions and tailoring posts for different student life stages before scheduling them across platforms.
  • Event coordination: Midday brings planning for the annual careers fair calendar. You research fairs in Birmingham and Leeds, request exhibitor costs, and update the events tracker to keep schedules smooth and clash-free.
  • Campaign development: In the afternoon, you draft email copy for final-year students, spotlighting career tools and upcoming webinars to help them feel confident about their next steps.
  • Wrap-up routine: Before logging off, you clear inbox enquiries, prepare tomorrow's worklist, and check the scheduling platform to ensure everything is set to publish as planned.

You finish the day with a clear sense of progress - creative content ready to inspire, events taking shape, and campaigns aligned to support students at every stage.

Who we're looking for:

  • Familiarity with social platforms is key as this makes up the key responsibility of the role (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn).
  • Interest in digital marketing, social media, and events is essential.
  • Basic IT literacy, with a keen interest in learning digital content creation tools and e-learning authoring platforms.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks, concurrently and meeting their deadlines without detriment to their success or quality, using Microsoft office applications for project/task/communication management.
  • Basic understanding of email or marketing software would be beneficial as would some experience with content creation (video, visual, or copy).
  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight: as required for careers fairs, campus visits, and other key events.

Discover the amazing benefits we provide:

  • Hands-On Experience - Work on real projects.
  • Mentorship and Support - One-on-one support from experienced professionals.
  • Career Growth - Opportunities for advancement.
  • Community - Join networks like Youth Network, LGBTQ+, Neurodiversity, Women's Network, and more.
  • 31 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) that includes three closure days over Christmas.
  • Flexible work pattern, which can adapt to suit your schedules and personal commitments.
  • Buy up to an additional 5 days leave during the flexible benefits window.
  • A range of wellbeing lifestyle benefits including company paid health care cash plan, mental health first aiders and support.
  • Allocated allowance of up to £250 to equip your home office.
  • Financial well-being support including access to preferential loan and savings plans, mortgage advice, will writing tools and support and resources to help you make the most of your money.
  • A wide range of discounts and cashback from retailers and big-name high-street stores.
  • Support your volunteering with up to 3 days volunteer leave.
  • Claim back the cost of a Young Person's Railcard each year, saving 1/3 on rail travel.

Entry requirements:

  • At least 5 GCSEs/or equivalent (including Maths and English) at grades 4+ (A-C) or above.
  • You are 16 years of age or over by the time you start your apprenticeship.
  • A UK resident (for at least the past 3 years) with the right to work in the UK who will be living in England for the duration of the apprenticeship.
  • To qualify for the apprenticeship levy you need to reside in England or be able to work from an England Jisc office for a minimum of 3 days per week.
  • Not in full-time education (you can of course be in education when you apply but must have completed your studies by the time the apprenticeship starts.)

Eligibility: Please note that we will not be able to offer you this apprenticeship if you have a Marketing qualification (or similar subject) at Level 3 or higher, such as:

  • Level 3 Diploma (including A-level) in Marketing.
  • Foundation Degree or Higher National Certificate/Diploma in Marketing.
  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in marketing or closely related fields.

Sponsorship: Please note that this role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. This decision is based on current Home Office eligibility criteria, which require specific conditions to be met in terms of job type, salary level, and other factors. As such, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this position.

Supporting you through the recruitment process: We're committed to an inclusive recruitment process that removes barriers and empowers you to showcase your talent. If you have a disability, long-term health condition, are neurodivergent, or need reasonable adjustments for any other reason, please let us know at any stage of the process so that we can support.

Interview Process: Once we receive your application, it will be reviewed against the criteria outlined for the role. You will receive an email confirming whether you've been shortlisted or not selected to progress further. If shortlisted, a member of the Jisc Talent Acquisition team will contact you to arrange an initial conversation. Following this, you will be invited to submit a short video response to a selection of scenario-based questions, giving us an opportunity to learn more about you. Candidates who progress will be invited to an online interview with the hiring team. We aim to complete all interviews by the end of April 2026 and will contact you afterwards regarding any offers of employment. We look forward to receiving your application and wish you the very best of luck!
