The role:
Join our OpenAthens development team and play a key role in shaping identity and access management products used by millions worldwide. As a Developer in Test, you’ll bring your technical testing expertise and collaborative mindset to ensure quality across the entire software development lifecycle—from backlog refinement and sprint planning to analysis, design, and testing.
In this role, you’ll:
- Implement and maintain automated testing strategies.
- Perform manual exploratory testing to validate product functionality.
- Work closely with developers, testers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality product increments.
What you’ll be doing:
- Develop a deep understanding of OpenAthens products, our development process, and the technical testing environment.
- Work closely with developers, testers, product owners, and architects to translate requirements into robust automated tests and perform exploratory manual testing.
- Ensure every change meets agreed quality standards and contributes to delivering high-quality product increments.
- Drive continuous improvement within the team and help identify opportunities for product enhancements and innovation.
- Stay curious and proactive in developing your skills and knowledge to keep pace with emerging technologies and best practices.
What we are looking for:
- Proven experience in Agile testing, including creating test plans and strategies, and collaborating with stakeholders and product owners.
- Expertise in building high-quality, maintainable, and well-documented automated tests.
- Strong proficiency in Java for automated testing, using tools such as WebDriver, Cucumber, and Page Objects.
- Skilled in testing REST-based APIs with Java, leveraging libraries like REST Assured to meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Solid understanding of automated and manual exploratory testing for web-based applications.
It would be a bonus if you have any of the following:
- Experience working with microservice architectures.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud or AWS.
- Hands-on knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
- Working knowledge of Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) practices.
Qualifications:
ISEB / ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level or relevant experience.
