About The Team
You’ll be joining the JD.com team, which values collaboration, ownership, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality results in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Reporting to the Director of Government Relations, you will help build our Government Affairs and policy capabilities from the ground up. The business launched across Europe in March 2026 and operates as a retailer, marketplace, China‑sourced private label manufacturer, logistics operator, and OTC pharmacy. The regulatory agenda is growing as JD looks to expand its business, and this role will play a hands‑on part in engaging European and Chinese regulators and distinguishing JD's business from other market entrants. This is a genuine opportunity to help shape it and grow with it.
What You’ll Do
- Support the development of long‑term European relationships with government entities, regulators, and industry organisations aligned with corporate strategy and regional needs across all six markets — including digital, competition and ecommerce practices, customs reform, product compliance, safety, trading standards, EPR and sustainability, AI and digital, and supply chain.
- Help manage JD's positioning on key issues and policies impacting its business, including for ecommerce retailers and marketplace providers, contributing to government‑level recognition and brand image.
- Support government engagement for business expansion into new market lines and countries, including healthcare and private label.
- Build and maintain relationships with provincial, municipal, and district government bodies and regulatory agencies.
- Represent JD in policy consultations on new regulations, under senior guidance.
- Support the Compliance team on regulatory investigations, inspections, and enforcement issues.
- Support regulatory horizon scanning and analysis of business implications, helping develop actionable advisories and response frameworks.
- Contribute to cross‑functional efforts to secure policy incentives, grants, and strategic endorsements.
- Liaise with the Public Relations sub‑team to ensure external communications are consistent with regulatory positioning.
- Support engagement with JD Group’s China headquarters and China‑based government affairs/regulatory teams to ensure European messaging aligns with Group‑level strategy.
- Provide input on government affairs and regulatory considerations for M&A activity across European markets, including due diligence support and stakeholder mapping.
About You
- Solid experience in Public Policy, Regulatory Affairs, or Government Relations, with some direct EU or UK regulatory engagement.
- Working knowledge of the EU digital regulatory landscape.
- Comfortable operating in a function that is still being built, with limited existing infrastructure.
- Experience in ecommerce, digital platforms, retail, or technology — in‑house or advisory.
- Experience in or alongside Chinese‑owned companies engaging with European regulators is a significant benefit.
- Multilingual and Mandarin language skills an advantage.
