The Fresh Category Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end operations of the fresh produce supply chain, ensuring products are sourced, handled, and delivered efficiently while maintaining quality, food safety, and service standards. The role coordinates with growers, packers, logistics providers, retailers, and internal teams to optimize product availability, minimize waste, and achieve commercial objectives.

What you will do:

  • Oversee daily operations across sourcing, packing, logistics, and distribution of fresh products.
  • Coordinate with growers, packers, consolidators, freight forwarders, and retailers to ensure a reliable supply chain where applicable.
  • Monitor product quality, food safety, traceability, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with 3rd party service providers to plan inventory, replenishment, and demand fulfilment to maximize product availability while minimizing shrinkage and waste.
  • Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring timely deliveries and resolving operational issues.
  • Track key operational metrics, including service levels, costs, inventory, waste, and supplier performance, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with procurement, sales, quality assurance, and logistics teams to support business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Manage relationships with external service providers and negotiate operational service levels where applicable.
  • Set up selling strategies together with 3rd party merchants to ensure 4ps are competitive and seasonal reflecting.

About you:

  • Extensive experience in UK and EU fresh food, agriculture, FMCG, or supply chain operations.
  • Strong understanding of fresh produce handling, cold chain logistics, inventory management, and quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of import/export processes, customs, and freight operations is an advantage.
  • Excellent planning, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple operational priorities.
  • Proficiency in ERP, WMS, or supply chain management systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Mandarin speaking is a bonus but not essential.
