About the Role

The Fundraising Officer will coordinate proposal development processes, undertake donor and prospect research, support grant management, and contribute to donor relationship management activities. The role requires close collaboration with colleagues across Programs, Operations, Finance, Communications, and Leadership teams to develop compelling proposals, support grant implementation, and maintain strong relationships with funders. The successful candidate will embrace and demonstrate NRGI’s values of rigor, collaboration, passion, integrity, and impact.

This Role Might Be for You If You Can:

  • Coordinate proposal development processes for bilateral, multilateral, and foundation funders.
  • Draft, edit, and finalize high-quality proposal content in collaboration with colleagues across the organization.
  • Support the development of proposal budgets aligned with NRGI’s strategic priorities and organizational cost model.
  • Undertake prospect research, monitor funding opportunities, and assess alignment with NRGI’s strategy.
  • Support donor relationship management activities and help strengthen stewardship approaches.
  • Coordinate grant management processes including contracting, reporting, compliance tracking, and grant close-out.
  • Prepare high-quality donor reports using data from monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems.
  • Maintain accurate records across CRM systems and donor portals.
  • Support the planning and coordination of NRGI funder meetings and engagement activities.
  • Contribute to annual fundraising planning and team priorities.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders across programs, operations, finance, and communications teams.

Experience & Technical Skills Required

  • At least four years of directly relevant work experience securing or supporting funding from institutional and foundation donors.
  • Experience coordinating proposal development and grant management processes.
  • Experience supporting donor relationship management and stewardship activities.
  • Experience developing proposal budgets and familiarity with full cost recovery principles.
  • Experience researching funding opportunities and donor prospects.
  • Experience using CRM or donor record management systems.
  • Experience working in a global organization and collaborating across cultures and time zones.
  • Knowledge or interest in natural resource governance, climate, energy transition, or international development issues is desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and compelling proposals, reports, and communications for different audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Fluency in French and/or Spanish is desirable.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and donor management systems.

Education & Qualifications

University degree preferably in a relevant field such as political science, development, economics, law, international affairs, or related disciplines. Equivalent relevant experience and transferable skills will also be considered.
