You do not need to have been a Trustee before or have previous Board experience. We need people who are willing to devote the necessary time and effort to support the work of Jigsaw4u, have the ability to think creatively and are happy to provide views. We are seeking new Trustees with experience in HR, Legal or Governance to replace our existing Trustees when their terms come to an end. It is important that individuals have an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liability of being a Trustee (we can provide further information on those duties and responsibilities).

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in HR, Legal or Governance.
  • Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to support the work of Jigsaw4u and contribute ideas.
  • Ability to think creatively and provide views; diverse backgrounds and skills welcomed.
  • Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liability of being a Trustee (further information available).

We are looking to add further skill sets and replace Trustees who leave when their terms come to an end. We are fortunate to have a Board with varied backgrounds, experience and skills, and we strive for ongoing governance excellence.

What will you be doing?

Being a Trustee of Jigsaw4u is an exciting and fulfilling role. Our Board benefits from individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds, experiences and skill sets. The Board’s role is to ensure that Jigsaw4u fulfils its duty to its beneficiaries and delivers on our vision, impact, goals and values.

The Board meets five times a year, plus an annual away day and ad-hoc meetings when necessary. Individual Trustees often take responsibility for specific aspects of Board and organisational priorities.

We particularly welcome applications from a diverse range of ages and backgrounds to reflect the diverse nature of our beneficiaries. The young people we work with come from a broad range of backgrounds, including Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, young people with mental or physical disabilities, or those experiencing complex issues and low levels of agency. Our Trustees should come from a wide range of ages and backgrounds to best support all the people we work with.

The purpose

The Board of Trustees is jointly responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, its financial health, the probity of its activities and developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines. All Trustees should be aware of, and understand their individual and collective responsibilities, and the Board should not be overly reliant on one or more individual Trustees in any particular aspect of governance. Our Trustees perform a vital and fulfilling role, ensuring that Jigsaw4u fulfils its duty to its beneficiaries and delivers on our vision, impact, goals and values.
