We are looking for a Knit and Jersey Garment Technologist to join our team in our Head Office in Richmond.
JOB PURPOSE
As the Knit and Jersey Garment Technologist you will take technical ownership of all aspects of Jigsaw knitwear and jersey wear product to ensure that the consistency of fit, construction, performance and quality is achieved across all garment categories, whilst maintaining continuity of sizing in the application of grading.
You will be passionate about fashion and quality and will set the highest standards for fit, quality and performance. Our technical team partner closely with the design and buying departments to assure the fit and quality of our product along with its technical performance from first sample through to delivery are followed through. The ideal candidate will be used to a fast-paced environment and have a commercial eye and attention to detail.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
– To support the Design team in the creation of accurate 1st prototype specs and packs for our Suppliers that are in line with business standards.
– To regularly consult the critical path to ensure deadlines are met and to inform Buying Team where this is not possible.
– To attend fit sessions and make a positive contribution to fit sessions, proactively offering technical advice to Design and Buying Team in line with business standards as well as independently leading fit sessions of Repeat Styles and Production Samples
– To liaise with Buying Team when alterations or comments affect price, quantity or the critical path.
– To ensure that Prototypes and Gold Seals are to the specifications requested
– To communicate specifications, amendments, and size charts to the Suppliers in a clear and understandable language, both written and visual.
– To deal with queries from Suppliers and to liaise with Buying Team when supplier suggestions or requests affect price or the critical path.
– To take full responsibility and ownership of the technical performance of the product, approve test reports and care labels in line with the Critical Path
– Quality inspection and approval of all pre-production and production samples to ensure highest commercial standard
– To prioritize workload in line with Meetings Schedule and Critical Path
– To contribute to annual evaluation of the Suppliers
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
– The ability to work under their own initiative and as part of a team
– Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
– Build and maintain strong relationships with Design, Production and Technical team members.
– Passionate about the product, with an innovative approach to improving fit, finish, manufacture etc
– Be proactive and visit shops to ensure we are always on top of new styles of manufacture
– Consistent quality and fit in line with Company Standards
– Create all specs/tech packs accurately
– Maintain QC to company standards
– Ensure critical path is followed
ESSENTIAL:
– Bachelor\’s degree level or equivalent, ideally in Fashion, Design or Garment Technology
– A minimum of 5 years experience as garment technologist on knits & jersey
– Technical knowledge of knitwear is essential
– Excellent organisational and time management skills. Accuracy and attention to detail is essential
– Understanding of pattern cutting
– Experience and knowledge in testing protocol, industry compliance and guidelines for ethical sourcing
– Extensive factory knowledge including working with international FF factories
