We are looking for patient and caring individuals to join our team at JigsawPlus, adult day centre. You will be working individually and within small groups with autistic learners aged 18 and over, supporting their development of knowledge and skills that will enhance their wellbeing, independence and social inclusion, helping to make significant differences to their lives. At JigsawPlus, we use behaviour driven teaching strategies to encourage positive outcomes and development of our learners. You will be working in our Centre for Lifelong Learning as well as accompanying our adult learners in the community, helping them to put their learning into practice.

Training & Development Opportunities

  • NVQ Level 3 & Level 5 Diplomas in Adult Social Care
  • Completion of the 15 standards to achieve a Care Certificate
  • Access to Specific Behaviour Analysis Qualifications including Registered Behaviour Technician qualification (RBT), Teaching accreditations (CABAS accreditation, focusing on adult curriculum), BCBA Status (Board Certified Behaviour Analyst certification), UKBA(cert) status and aUKBA(cert) status
  • Instructor Training in PROACT SCIPr UK Behaviour Management
  • Extensive and regular industry training including First Aid, Safeguarding, Emergency Medication, Behaviour Management, Personal Care, Autism and much more

Responsibilities of the role

  • Provide support, care and teaching to autistic adult learners
  • Plan, prepare and deliver activities supporting the development of knowledge and skills
  • Provide behaviourally based support to reduce behaviours that impact quality of life
  • Provide personal care, encouraging and enabling adult learners to maintain acceptable levels of hygiene, including toileting, dressing and washing
  • Support adult learners participation in social, leisure and educational activities within the local community, applying theory-based learning to practice
  • Support adult learners to access work experience and employment opportunities

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Professional, personal or voluntary experience of working with adults or young people with disabilities
  • Ability to keep patient and calm in high pressure situations
  • Commitment to our regular and ongoing professional development programme and training
  • A positive, can-do attitude
  • Confident working with adults who exhibit challenging behaviour and supporting others with personal/intimate care where required
  • Driving licence or access to a lift (due to our remote location)

Salary: £25000 (Plus a £500 bonus on completion of probation)

Contract terms: Monday to Friday 9.00 17.00 (plus 25 Days bank Holidays) Part Time working options can be considered
