As part of the Qualified Teaching team, you will support our autistic pupils using instruction based on behaviour analysis and positive reinforcement techniques to accelerate learning. Working within small class groups or on a 1:1 basis, you will use specialised support plans to help pupils meet their individual needs and achieve their full potential. You will also be responsible for designing, planning and delivering the wider school curriculum and special events that encourage development, enhance learning and provide unique opportunities to our pupils.

Responsibilities of the role:
  • Class Teaching
  • Provide support and teaching based on behaviour analysis to autistic pupils
  • Collect, record and analyse data to monitor progress and develop support plans
  • Interact and participate with the pupils in the development of skills that support their social and emotional development
  • Lead and take part in educational visits and off-site activities with pupils (during school hours)
  • Contribute to the design of an engaging school curriculum, providing differentiated long, medium and short-term plans
  • Plan and deliver school-wide curriculum activities such as topic lessons and themed event/weeks
  • Oversee the implementation and evaluations of wider school curriculum plan
  • Support the delivery of life skills programmes and entry level qualifications for students, including assessments, recording evidence and internal moderation
  • Contribute to team meetings and the school's newsletter
To be successful in this role you will need:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teaching & Learning Status (QTLS) Candidate (For Early Careers Teachers (ECTs) - A minimum of 1 year of the supported induction process to have been completed in a mainstream setting)
  • Teaching experience within the UK school system and an understanding of the National Curriculum in England
  • An interest in and/or experience of working in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Confident working with pupils with a high level of need which may include dysregulated behaviours
  • Confident supporting others with personal/intimate care where required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise professionally with all stakeholders
  • An understanding and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • The ability to perform tasks of a physical nature (often demanding) including twisting and stooping and working at a lower height
  • A commitment to Jigsaw's ongoing training and professional development programme
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
  • Ability to remain calm in high pressure situations with a positive, can-do attitude

Salary: From £34,398 per annum plus a £1000 Joining Bonus

Contract terms: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8:45am-4:45pm, Tuesday: 8:45am-5:30pm, Friday 8:45am-4:30pm Term time Only
