What we do
We work with a substantial panel of motor finance lenders to help customers of all credit profiles find and fund their next vehicle. We operate across two routes to market:
- B2B (circa 75%) - processing introductions from motor dealerships across the UK whose customers want to buy on finance
- D2C (circa 25%) - processing finance applications from customers who come to us directly through digital marketing, then helping them source a vehicle from a dealership of their choice
Revenue comes predominantly from finance commission, plus ancillary products like vehicle warranty and other protection products.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a newly created role - built for the next phase of Jigsaw Finance's growth story. You'll report directly into our Group Finance Director and lead a team of two Accounts Assistants, shaping how our finance function scales from here.
Own the day-to-day rhythm of the transactional finance function, making sure processes are slick, controlled, and built to scale
Get hands-on with improving financial processes and controls - this is a business moving fast, and there's real scope to shape how things are done, not just follow what's already there.
LOCATION & WORKING ARRANGEMENTS
This is a primarily remote role, however some office attendance will be required. The successful candidate must be able to travel to our Macclesfield and Stoke-on-Trent offices occasionally for stakeholder meetings and other business requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Own the numbers, drive the business
- Take ownership of month-end close, management accounts, and financial reporting - Support the Finance Director to produce accurate, timely insight that the leadership team actually acts on.
- Partner with the Finance Director to build out budgets, forecasts, and cash flow models that keep pace with our growth
Lead and develop your team
- Manage, coach, and grow two Accounts Assistants - building their technical skills and setting them up for their own career progression
Build the engine as we grow
- Support statutory reporting, audit processes, and compliance, working closely with external advisors and auditors
- Play a key role in systems and process improvement projects as the finance function matures alongside the business
- Work the Finance Director and team to build further accuracy and efficiencies into the payroll and HR processes, including review and implementation of new systems.
Be a genuine business partner
- Work with department heads to improve operations by strengthening processes
- Bring a commercial mindset to everything - this isn't a back-office reporting role, it's a seat at the table
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications and Background
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
- Proven experience either in practice or in industry, ideally with sector experience.
- Track record of ownership of month-end reporting, statutory accounts, and audit
- Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP and statutory reporting requirements
Leadership and Team
- Experience leading and developing a small finance team
- Comfortable operating hands-on in a fast-growing, owner-managed business
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Experience within motor finance, consumer credit, lending, or another FCA-regulated environment
- Experience of Sage Accounting and/or Payroll systems
- Exposure to HR oversight, payroll, and commission scheme design
