We are looking for talented and experienced Senior Support Workers/Team Leads to support individuals in times of crisis and challenge.

This position has arisen out of the development of new services and pathways for individuals with complex learning disabilities, mental health needs and acquired neurological damage.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will be involved in shaping and supporting the individuals to build self esteem and achieve their long and short term personal goals, whilst managing the staff team and providing knowledge and insights to new staff members.

We are looking for an experienced, confident, passionate individuals who want to make a difference to the lives of the individuals we support.

This is not your normal 9-5 role, it is varied and very rewarding.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the support for individuals in all areas of their lives. These will cover the following main areas:

  • Physical and psychological support
  • To facilitate increased independence.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the service.
  • Support for individuals with behaviours described as challenging
  • Support for individuals with communication difficulties and sensory impairments
  • Develop the staff team
  • Report accidents/incidents accordingly.
  • To work in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team
  • To identify risk and ensure appropriate action is taken to mitigate risk.
  • What you will need to do the role successfully
  • A positive, can-do attitude.
  • Person centred approach.
  • Commitment to lifestyle and activities promotion (football, swimming, cooking, travelling etc)
  • Line manage a team of direct support staff through supervision, appraisal, coaching and advice, ensuring training needs of the team are met.
  • Be proactive, professional and able to deal with people at all levels.
  • Great support planning skills (desirable).
  • Exceptional communications skills.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and intensive behavioural support needs (desirable).
  • Ideally you will hold a Level 2 Diploma in health and social care or equivalent. (not essential)
