About the Company
Our client is an established Yorkshire-based civil engineering and groundworks contractor with a strong presence across the region. They deliver a range of construction, civil engineering and groundwork projects for clients across Yorkshire, with a focus on delivering projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Due to continued workload and ongoing projects across the region, they are looking to strengthen their delivery team with an experienced Civils Site Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Manager who is looking to join a well-established contractor and take responsibility for the successful delivery of civils and groundworks projects across Yorkshire.

The Role
As a Civils Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of construction activities on site, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards.

You will play a key role in coordinating site operations, managing subcontractors and site personnel, monitoring progress and ensuring that all works are carried out in accordance with project requirements.
The role will involve working across various sites throughout Yorkshire, so candidates must be comfortable travelling to different project locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the day-to-day operations and delivery of civils and groundworks projects.
  • Taking responsibility for the overall performance and progress of the site.
  • Planning and coordinating site activities to ensure works are delivered in line with the programme.
  • Managing and coordinating subcontractors, site operatives and other members of the project team.
  • Ensuring all works are completed safely and in accordance with company and project procedures.
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance.
  • Monitoring project progress and identifying any potential delays or issues at an early stage.
  • Liaising with the project management team, clients, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring materials, plant and labour are available when required.
  • Reading and working from construction drawings, specifications and project documentation.
  • Carrying out regular site inspections and ensuring works are completed to the required standards.
  • Completing site records, reports and relevant project documentation.
  • Managing site resources effectively to ensure projects remain on programme and within agreed requirements.
  • Identifying and resolving issues on site in a proactive and practical manner.
  • Promoting a positive health and safety culture across the site.
  • Ensuring all site personnel and subcontractors comply with relevant RAMS and site procedures.

About You

The successful candidate will have solid experience working as a Site Manager within the civils, civil engineering, groundworks or wider construction sector.
You will ideally have experience managing civils projects from a site-based position and be confident taking ownership of day-to-day site operations.
We are particularly interested in speaking with Site Managers who are:

  • Experienced within civils, groundworks or civil engineering.
  • Confident managing subcontractors and site teams.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for site delivery.
  • Strong communicators with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and colleagues.
  • Organised and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Proactive when identifying and resolving issues.
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of health and safety.
  • Flexible regarding travel across Yorkshire.
  • Able to demonstrate a strong track record of delivering construction projects successfully.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience working within a Site Manager position in construction/civils.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Previous experience within civils, groundworks or civil engineering.
  • Good understanding of site health and safety requirements.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
