Quantity Surveyor - Civil Engineering
£40,000 to £55,000

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join an established civil engineering contractor based in Bolton, with projects delivered across the North West.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within a supportive and collaborative business, working on a diverse range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

The Role As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of civil engineering projects from inception through to final account.

Working closely with Project Managers, Site Teams, clients and subcontractors, you will help ensure projects are delivered successfully from both a financial and contractual perspective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and administering NEC contracts.
  • Preparing, submitting and agreeing applications, valuations and final accounts.
  • Managing compensation events and contractual processes.
  • Measuring and valuing works.
  • Monitoring project costs, budgets and financial performance.
  • Producing cost reports and forecasts.
  • Procuring and commercially managing subcontractor packages.
  • Preparing and managing contractual correspondence.
  • Working closely with clients, subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Supporting continuous improvement across the commercial function.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience within a Quantity Surveying role, ideally within civil engineering.
  • Experience working with NEC contracts.
  • Good knowledge of measurement within civil engineering projects.
  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
  • Competent using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • A positive and proactive approach, with a genuine willingness to develop professionally.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the North West.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience using CEMAR contract management software.
  • Experience using FastDraft.
  • Previous experience working for a civil engineering contractor.
  • HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
