Planner – London

Location: London

Salary: Up to £60k + Company Car / Car Allowance

Position Overview

We are working with a leading infrastructure contractor to recruit a Planner to join their growing team based in London. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner looking to work on a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects across the rail, highways, energy and civil engineering sectors.

The successful candidate will support the planning and successful delivery of projects from tender stage through to completion, working closely with project managers, engineers and site teams to ensure programmes are accurate, achievable and effectively maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and maintain detailed project programmes from tender stage through to project completion.
  • Develop project schedules using Primavera P6 in line with project requirements and contract obligations.
  • Monitor project progress, update programmes and report on key milestones.
  • Identify programme risks, delays and opportunities, proposing mitigation and recovery plans where required.
  • Support project teams with planning, sequencing and resource coordination.
  • Produce programme reports, dashboards and planning documentation for internal and client reporting.
  • Assist with change management, baseline updates and progress reporting.
  • Prepare work scope trackers and planning documentation.
  • Support the Planning Manager and wider project teams in delivering planning activities across multiple projects.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements within the planning function.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a Planning role within the construction or civil engineering industry.
  • Good working knowledge of Primavera P6.
  • Experience working on infrastructure projects such as rail, highways, energy or civil engineering.
  • Understanding of NEC contracts.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • The ability to manage multiple programmes and deadlines.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites when required.

Desirable

  • Experience with operational planning, including rail possessions.
  • Knowledge of schedule management, risk management and change control.
  • Experience producing visual reporting dashboards and project performance reports.
