A growing, privately owned main contractor based in Exeter is looking for an experienced Site Manager to lead a £1.5m commercial refurbishment and fit out project near Taunton. With an expanding pipeline of future projects in and around the Exeter area, this is a great opportunity to join a business at an exciting stage of growth with genuine long-term prospects.
As Site Manager, you will lead all activities on site, overseeing the project from start to finish and reporting into a visiting Contracts Manager. You will take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the works, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing all on-site operations from mobilisation through to practical completion
- Leading and coordinating subcontractors and trades to maintain programme and quality
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety, quality, and building regulations
- Chairing site and progress meetings with the client and design team
- Reporting progress, issues, and programme updates to the visiting Contracts Manager
- Managing site records, RAMS, and progress reporting
- Acting as the key point of contact for site-based queries throughout the project
About You
- Proven experience as a Site Manager with a main contractor, ideally on commercial refurbishment or fit out projects
- Comfortable leading a site autonomously while reporting into a visiting Contracts Manager
- Living on the M5 corridor, given the contractor's Exeter base and future project pipeline in the Exeter area
- SMSTS, First Aid, and CSCS (Black/Gold card) essential
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence
