We are recruiting on behalf of a privately owned, successful regional main contractor based in North Devon. With a strong pipeline of repeat business from long-standing clients, our client delivers a diverse range of new build housing, heritage, commercial, and public sector projects up to £5m in value.
Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a permanent, office-based role.
Quantity Surveyor Role:
- Office-based role covering projects across North and Mid Devon
- Running 1-3 projects at any one time, depending on value and complexity
- Project values up to £5m across new build housing, heritage, commercial, and public sector work
- Estimating projects before running them commercially through to completion
- Full commercial management from pre-construction to final account
- Preparing and agreeing interim valuations and payment applications
- Procuring and managing subcontract packages, including tendering and valuing works
- Cost reporting, forecasting, and monitoring project profitability
- Managing variations, change control, and contract compliance
- Negotiating and agreeing final accounts with clients and subcontractors
- Liaising with clients, consultants, and site teams throughout the project lifecycle
Quantity Surveyor Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment
- Experience estimating and running projects commercially
- Experience across new build housing, heritage, commercial, or public sector projects advantageous
- Good working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contract forms
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
- Full UK driving licence essential
