I'm working with a high‐growth, globally distributed B2B technology business operating in the HR-tech / global workforce space. They are seeking a Director-level Commercial Legal leader to take ownership of the commercial contracting function and manage a small team (4–5 lawyers). This is not a pure people‐manager role. It's a hands‐on leadership position for someone who can steady the function, partner closely with Sales and Partnerships and personally handle complex enterprise negotiations.

The Opportunity

  • Act as the directly responsible leader for Commercial Legal
  • Manage and mentor 4–5 commercial lawyers (Managing Counsel level)
  • Partner closely with VP-level Sales and Partnerships stakeholders
  • Support enterprise and bespoke SaaS deal negotiations
  • Upgrade and simplify commercial templates and contracting processes
  • Own and optimise CLM workflows and contracting metrics
  • Collaborate with Legal Ops and Revenue Ops to drive efficiency
  • Help implement practical AI‐driven improvements in contracting

This is a role for someone who brings structure, calm leadership, and commercial credibility in equal measure.

The Profile

  • 10–15+ PQE
  • Trained in private practice before moving in‐house
  • Currently operating at Senior Counsel / Director / Head of Commercial Legal level
  • Experienced managing 3–6 lawyers
  • Deeply embedded with GTM teams in a revenue‐heavy SaaS business
  • Comfortable redlining complex bespoke deals yourself
  • Familiar with CLM systems and automation
  • Commercial, steady and low‐ego
  • A doer rather than a theorist
  • HR‐tech or adjacent B2B SaaS experience is highly desirable.

This role would suit someone who has scaled a commercial legal function in a fast‐growing environment and enjoys bringing teams and stakeholders together.

Why This Role?

  • Senior leadership seat within a scaling global tech business
  • Direct impact on revenue growth and enterprise motion
  • Strong compensation aligned to Director‐level scope
