JH Contracts Ltd is looking for an experienced and reliable Multi-Skilled Tradesperson to join our growing team.
We are a Tamworth-based property maintenance and refurbishment contractor working across a range of sectors throughout the Midlands and beyond.
A significant part of our current workload is within social housing repairs, maintenance and remedial works, so experience within this sector would be particularly beneficial. However, our work is varied and also includes new-build housing aftercare, defect and remedial works, refurbishment projects and commercial fit-outs.
Although we are based in Tamworth, this is a mobile role and travel to different sites and customer properties will be required.
The Role
You will carry out a wide range of repairs, maintenance and finishing works across occupied and void social housing properties, new-build developments and commercial projects.
Typical works may include:
- Carpentry and general joinery
- Kitchen and bathroom repairs
- Plumbing repairs and replacements
- Patch plastering and making good
- Wall and floor tiling
- Painting and decorating
- Door, frame, skirting and architrave repairs
- Flooring repairs
- Silicone and mastic works
- Minor brickwork and external repairs
- General property maintenance
- New-build defect and snagging works
- Remedial works following inspections
- Refurbishment and commercial fit-out works
- Diagnosing defects and completing suitable repairs
- Making good following other trades
We are not necessarily looking for somebody who is a specialist in every trade, but you must be genuinely multi-skilled, experienced and capable of completing a variety of works to a good professional standard.
Social Housing Experience
Previous experience working within social housing, housing associations, local authority properties or occupied residential properties would be a significant advantage.
You will regularly be working in customers' homes, including properties occupied by elderly or vulnerable residents. We therefore expect our operatives to be polite, respectful, presentable and professional at all times.
The ability to communicate properly with residents, site teams, our office staff and our clients is an important part of the role.
Experience working on new-build housing developments, particularly customer care, snagging and defect rectification, would also be advantageous.
What We Are Looking For
Above everything else, reliability and quality of workmanship are paramount to us.
We are looking for somebody who:
- Turns up when they are supposed to
- Takes pride in their work
- Completes jobs properly and to a high standard
- Can work independently and use their own initiative
- Is genuinely capable across a number of trades
- Is comfortable working in occupied homes, new-build properties and commercial environments
- Treats customers and their homes with respect
- Keeps work areas clean and tidy
- Can accurately report additional works or problems found on site
- Is comfortable providing photographs and job updates
- Works safely and follows company and client procedures
- Can adapt to different types of work and environments
- Is flexible regarding travelling to different areas when required
You must hold a full UK driving licence.
Relevant trade qualifications, CSCS, asbestos awareness, PASMA/IPAF or other industry qualifications would be advantageous, although practical experience, reliability and the standard of your workmanship are equally important to us.
What We Offer
- Β£30,000βΒ£35,000 salary depending on experience and ability

- 22 days annual leave plus bank holidays

We are looking for somebody who wants a long-term position and can become a dependable part of the JH Contracts team.
