Location: Manchester

Salary: £29,000 - £33,000 + Bonus

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Accountant to join a growing and forward-thinking accountancy practice based in Manchester.

This role is ideal for someone with experience managing a portfolio of clients who is looking to further develop their career within a supportive and expanding firm. You'll work closely with a broad range of SMEs, providing high-quality accounting and tax services while becoming a trusted advisor to your clients.

You'll be given responsibility from day one, genuine opportunities for progression, and the chance to play a key role in the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

As an Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing your own portfolio of clients.
  • Preparing year-end statutory accounts.
  • Preparing Corporation Tax and Personal Tax returns.
  • Producing VAT returns and assisting with PAYE and payroll.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for client queries via phone and email.
  • Building strong, long-term client relationships.
  • Ensuring client records remain accurate and up to date.
  • Keeping abreast of changes to tax legislation and accounting standards.
  • Supporting the continued growth and development of the practice.

About You

To be considered, you should have:

  • Around 1-3 years' experience in an accountancy practice or similar client-facing accounting role.
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts and tax returns.
  • AAT qualified or currently studying towards AAT, ACCA or ACA.
  • Experience using bookkeeping and cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Office skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to manage your own workload.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to build lasting client relationships.
