We are seeking a skilled Floor Layer to join our installation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various types of flooring in commercial and residential properties. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. The ideal applicant will have experience with construction processes, hand tools, carpentry, and schematics, ensuring high-quality workmanship in all projects undertaken.
Responsibilities
- Prepare subfloors by cleaning, levelling, and repairing surfaces to ensure proper flooring installation.
- Measure and cut flooring materials accurately using hand tools and power tools.
- Install various types of flooring including carpet, hardwood, laminate, vinyl, and LVT according to project specifications.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to execute precise installations.
- Use construction painting techniques to prepare surfaces when necessary before flooring installation.
- Operate power tools safely and efficiently during installation and repair tasks.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organising tools and disposing of waste materials appropriately.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople such as carpenters and painters to ensure seamless project completion.
Requirements
- Proven experience in flooring installation is preferred.
- Proficiency with hand tools such as knives, hammers, saws, and screwdrivers.
- Knowledge of carpentry principles and schematics reading is essential.
- Familiarity with construction painting techniques is advantageous.
- Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively.
