Hours: 14 hours per week, some hours will be outside of normal office hours.

Salary: £10,920 (FTE annual salary £29,250).

For the past 22 years, GIFT’s mission has been and continues to be to inspire and enable lifelong giving. We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-organised individual to join a highly motivated team to continue its vital work in the community.

Scope: The Family and Volunteer Liaison Officer supports both GIFT volunteers and the families we work with, ensuring all support aligns with GIFT’s mission to inspire and enable lifelong giving. The role combines administrative tasks with hands-on support, including volunteer training in safeguarding and health & safety, managing referrals, maintaining records, and preparing reports for senior management. You will work closely with families and volunteers, providing guidance and oversight to meet their needs effectively. Some hours will fall outside of normal working hours, so flexibility is essential. This role ensures the smooth, safe, and professional delivery of GIFT services while helping both volunteers and families feel supported and valued.

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Make quarterly check-in calls to volunteers acting as a point of contact providing ongoing support, guidance, and conflict resolution if needed.
  • Complete inductions and training for all volunteers according to GIFT’s policy and procedures.
  • Maintain volunteer records, including service logs, feedback, and training updates.
  • Assist in arranging volunteer drivers to deliver weekly food parcels.
  • Prepare weekly reports and stats for the SMT regarding GIFT volunteers.
  • Arrange and carry out home visits and phone calls for existing GIFT recipients in order to complete assessments based on set criteria where required.

  • Ensure that records for the GIFT recipients are up to date and accurate.
  • Assist with planning for Chagim.
  • Support the volunteer team with general administrative tasks.
  • Support the development of new processes, programmes and improvements to enhance volunteer and family experiences.
  • Promote GIFT’s values and mission in all interactions with both volunteers and recipients.

Personality/Experience: We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate a number of these personality traits and experiences:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport across diverse groups. Must be able to display empathy, patience, and the ability to manage sensitive situations professionally.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Teams and CRM Software is essential.
  • Previous experience in volunteering, social care, or community work is desirable.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding procedures and DBS requirements.
  • Must have a car.
  • Outgoing and proactive, demonstrating attention to detail and methodical in approach.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work on their own and manage multiple priorities yet takes direction and works well within a team.
  • A great communicator, both verbal and written, excelling in the relationships built with stakeholders and working across various teams.
  • Must have a good knowledge of the UK Jewish community.
