Location: Fully Remote

Salary: £32,000 – £35,000 per year

Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm (40 hours per week)

Contract: Permanent

The Role

This role is ideal for an experienced payroll professional with a strong bureau or accountancy practice background. You will take ownership of a portfolio of client payrolls, ensuring accurate and timely processing while acting as a trusted point of contact for clients and partners. The successful candidate will be confident managing multiple payrolls, solving complex queries and delivering a high-quality service in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of client payrolls.
  • Ensure payrolls are completed accurately and delivered within strict deadlines.
  • Handle payroll queries from clients and accountants, providing clear and professional support.
  • Manage pension processing, auto-enrolment and statutory requirements.
  • Complete payroll checks, resolve discrepancies and take ownership of issues through to resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow payroll processes to ensure compliance.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, providing proactive updates and excellent customer service.
  • Adapt to payroll software and evolving processes within a growing business.

  • Minimum 3 years’ UK payroll experience.
  • Strong background working within a payroll bureau or accountancy practice environment.
  • Experience managing client payrolls independently from start to finish.
  • Recent/current experience using BrightPay is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, pensions and auto-enrolment.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a proven track record of payroll accuracy.
  • Confident communicator who can explain payroll matters clearly to clients and stakeholders.
  • A proactive problem solver who takes ownership and enjoys working independently.
