An established and growing professional services organisation is seeking a Part-Time Assistant Payroll Manager to support the delivery of payroll services across a diverse portfolio of clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional looking for a flexible part-time position within a supportive and collaborative environment. Working closely with the wider payroll team, you will support the end-to-end processing of client payrolls, assist with statutory reporting requirements, and provide expert payroll guidance to clients. You will help maintain high service standards while ensuring compliance with current UK payroll legislation.
Key Responsibilities- Support the processing of client payrolls across weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payroll cycles.
- Respond to payroll-related enquiries, providing accurate and timely advice to clients.
- Deliver a high standard of customer service, resolving payroll and legislative queries efficiently.
- Assist with statutory payroll reporting, including P60s, P11Ds, and PAYE Settlement Agreements.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with current UK payroll legislation.
- Support the payroll team with administrative and operational payroll activities as required.
- Ensure payroll deadlines are met consistently and accurately.
- Build strong working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
You will have a strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and payroll operations, alongside excellent organisational and communication skills. You will be confident managing multiple priorities and committed to delivering a high-quality client experience.
Essential Skills & Experience- Good understanding of UK payroll legislation and payroll processes.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong communication and client service skills.
- A proactive, reliable, and detail-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Experience using IRIS Star payroll software.
- CIPP qualification or currently studying towards one.
- Previous experience processing payrolls for multiple clients within a payroll bureau, accountancy practice, or outsourced payroll environment.
