Salary: £30,000–£36,000 Location: Nottingham (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home after probation)

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time The Opportunity An excellent opportunity for an experienced Payroll Senior to join a growing payroll bureau within an established accountancy practice.

You'll manage your own portfolio of client payrolls, working in a close-knit team and providing a high-quality payroll service to a varied client base.

This is a hands-on end-to-end payroll role with plenty of autonomy, making it ideal for someone who enjoys managing multiple client payrolls and building strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process a portfolio of weekly and monthly client payrolls from start to finish.
  • Manage approximately 70–100 payrolls, varying in size and complexity.
  • Maintain employee records, process starters, leavers and payroll amendments.
  • Complete RTI submissions, year-end processes and statutory reporting.
  • Administer Auto Enrolment and pension submissions, ensuring compliance with deadlines.
  • Process CIS returns and BACS payment files for clients.
  • Liaise with HMRC and resolve payroll-related queries.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, providing expert payroll support and advice.
  • Support the Payroll Manager when required and assist colleagues across the wider payroll team.
  • Keep up to date with payroll legislation and contribute to maintaining high service standards. What They're Looking For
  • At least 3 years' end-to-end UK payroll experience, ideally within a payroll bureau or accountancy practice.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, RTI, Auto Enrolment and statutory payments.
  • Experience processing multiple client payrolls simultaneously.
  • Confident carrying out manual payroll calculations when required.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with payroll software such as Sage, IRIS Payroll Professional, Earnie or Xero Payroll would be advantageous.
  • A proactive team player with excellent attention to detail and a customer-focused approach.
