Contract: Permanent, Full-Time The Opportunity An excellent opportunity for an experienced Payroll Senior to join a growing payroll bureau within an established accountancy practice.
You'll manage your own portfolio of client payrolls, working in a close-knit team and providing a high-quality payroll service to a varied client base.
This is a hands-on end-to-end payroll role with plenty of autonomy, making it ideal for someone who enjoys managing multiple client payrolls and building strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Process a portfolio of weekly and monthly client payrolls from start to finish.
- Manage approximately 70–100 payrolls, varying in size and complexity.
- Maintain employee records, process starters, leavers and payroll amendments.
- Complete RTI submissions, year-end processes and statutory reporting.
- Administer Auto Enrolment and pension submissions, ensuring compliance with deadlines.
- Process CIS returns and BACS payment files for clients.
- Liaise with HMRC and resolve payroll-related queries.
- Build strong relationships with clients, providing expert payroll support and advice.
- Support the Payroll Manager when required and assist colleagues across the wider payroll team.
- Keep up to date with payroll legislation and contribute to maintaining high service standards. What They're Looking For
- At least 3 years' end-to-end UK payroll experience, ideally within a payroll bureau or accountancy practice.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, RTI, Auto Enrolment and statutory payments.
- Experience processing multiple client payrolls simultaneously.
- Confident carrying out manual payroll calculations when required.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Experience with payroll software such as Sage, IRIS Payroll Professional, Earnie or Xero Payroll would be advantageous.
- A proactive team player with excellent attention to detail and a customer-focused approach.
