Job Title: Payroll Administrator

Location: Billericay, Essex (Office-Based)

Salary: £28,000 – £32,000

Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent

System: Sage 50 (experience desirable)

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to join a friendly and supportive team on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives on accuracy, enjoys client interaction, and can manage a varied payroll portfolio.

About the Role

You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of monthly, fortnightly, and weekly payrolls, as well as processing monthly CIS returns. The role involves regular liaison with clients, HMRC, and pension providers to ensure a smooth and compliant service.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end payroll processing
  • Managing starters and leavers (including P45s)
  • Calculating salaries and ensuring compliance with NMW and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.)
  • Uploading and submitting pension data to providers
  • Liaising with HMRC and The Pensions Regulator
  • Responding to client queries accurately and promptly
  • Submitting Declarations of Compliance to The Pensions Regulator
  • Processing CIS returns and claims

About You

  • Minimum of 1 year’s payroll processing experience (essential)
  • Sage 50 Payroll experience (desirable)
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, and meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail with a “right first time” approach
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
