Overview
An established, multi-entity international business is seeking an experienced Payroll Transformation Manager to stabilise and modernise its payroll function. Operating across multiple European locations, the organisation is undergoing a period of change and requires a specialist to bring structure, clarity, and improved governance to a complex payroll environment. This is a high-impact role suited to someone who thrives in ambiguous situations and can quickly diagnose issues, implement improvements, and lead transformation initiatives across systems, vendors, and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and diagnose current payroll operations, identifying inefficiencies and risks
- Lead the transformation of a fragmented payroll function with multiple stakeholders and outsourced providers
- Improve governance, controls, and processes across payroll delivery
- Manage and optimise relationships with multiple payroll vendors
- Drive system and process improvements, particularly across payroll and HR technology ecosystems
- Support ongoing projects focused on automation and system integration
- Collaborate with finance, HR, and operational teams across international locations
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in payroll transformation or large-scale payroll projects
- Strong background in outsourced payroll environments
- Ability to operate strategically rather than as a hands‐on processor
- Demonstrated success improving processes, controls, and delivery models
- Comfortable working in complex, fast‐paced, and evolving environments
- Excellent stakeholder management skills across multiple business areas
- Experience working across multiple countries or entities is highly advantageous
