We’re working with a well-established organisation that supports clients across the West Midlands and surrounding areas. They’re looking for an Employee Relations Specialist to provide practical, commercially aware HR advice to managers across a varied client base.
The Role
This is a hands-on ER-focused position where you’ll advise on a broad range of employee relations matters, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence, performance, and harassment, as well as supporting wider HR projects and organisational change.
You’ll work closely with managers and leaders, providing pragmatic advice around employment law, policies and procedures, while also attending formal meetings and conducting investigations where required.
The role will also involve:
- Providing expert advice on complex ER cases and employment legislation
- Leading disciplinary, grievance and other workplace investigations
- Supporting managers with attendance, performance and capability matters
- Advising on safeguarding-related HR issues where required
- Coaching and training managers on HR and ER best practice
- Supporting HR projects, change programmes and policy development
- Building positive relationships with Trade Unions and Professional Associations
- Supporting the development and delivery of HR policies and processes
- Working collaboratively with senior stakeholders across multiple schools
About You
We’re looking for someone who is confident operating in an ER advisory/consultancy capacity and can manage potentially sensitive and complex employee relations cases with professionalism.
You’ll ideally have:
- Strong experience across employee relations and generalist HR
- Excellent knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Experience managing disciplinaries, grievances, absence and investigations
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skillsConfidence advising and coaching managers
- Experience working with or alongside Trade Unions would be advantageous
- A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work autonomously
