The Opportunity
We’re recruiting for a Senior Tax Associate to join a professional and growing private client tax team. The role will focus on the preparation of personal tax returns and computations, while providing the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge, client relationships and portfolio management experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Service
- Build and maintain strong, professional client relationships
- Gather and review information required to complete tax returns
- Respond confidently and promptly to client queries
- Escalate more complex technical matters where appropriate
- Manage workloads effectively and work within agreed budgets
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working
- Private Client Tax
- Prepare personal tax returns and computations for review
- Complete tax returns and accounts covering areas such as employment and straightforward investment income
- Assist with personal tax computations for approval and submission to HMRC
- Develop knowledge across tax codes, rates and allowable expenditure
- Carry out technical research to support client compliance
- Liaise with HMRC on straightforward queries and repayment enquiries
- Identify potential technical issues or areas of risk and escalate appropriately
- Keep up to date with relevant tax legislation and regulatory changes
- Team & Development
- Support and coach junior colleagues, sharing knowledge and experience
- Take increasing responsibility for your own portfolio and areas of work
- Apply knowledge and previous experience to new and similar situations
- Collaborate with colleagues across the wider team
- Work towards agreed chargeable time and performance expectations
Qualifications & Experience
Ideally, you will be studying towards or hold a relevant tax or accountancy qualification, such as: ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA. Candidates with strong, relevant practical experience gained through their career will also be considered.
