This is a senior hands-on role for someone who understands how robust infrastructure is built, protected and evolved properly over time.

You will take responsibility for the design, stability and ongoing development of the infrastructure environment, while acting as the final escalation point for complex technical issues. Alongside day-to-day operational ownership, you will play a key role in major change initiatives, including system integrations and platform consolidation following corporate acquisitions.

This position suits a professional who values discipline, documentation and standards, but who can also move decisively when the business demands it. You will be accountable for the health, security and performance of all infrastructure platforms. Working closely with service delivery and engineering colleagues, you will ensure systems are resilient, scalable and aligned with business priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ownership of third line support for infrastructure related incidents and problems
  • Diagnosing recurring issues and implementing long term, structured solutions
  • Acting as the technical bridge between engineering teams and service delivery
  • Leading infrastructure projects from design through to implementation and handover
  • Supporting system integration and migration activities following acquisitions
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed technical documentation
  • Proactive monitoring of systems, capacity and performance
  • Planning infrastructure resources to support growth and change
  • Defining and improving operational procedures for infrastructure support
  • Managing patching, upgrades and maintenance, including out of hours work when required
  • Ensuring high availability through timely escalation and preventative action
  • Safeguarding data, networks and backups through structured controls and monitoring
Experience and Background
  • A minimum of 10 years in a senior infrastructure or systems role
  • Strong exposure to business facing incident and problem management
  • Experience supporting users and systems across multiple regions and time zones
  • Hands on involvement in system migrations or environment consolidation
  • Experience within financial services or similar regulated sectors is highly desirable, as is previous involvement in merger or acquisition activity.
Technical Capability

You should be comfortable operating across a broad technology stack, including:

  • Cloud and productivity platforms within the Microsoft ecosystem
  • Enterprise backup and recovery platforms
  • Directory services and identity management
  • Network services including DNS and routing
  • Monitoring and alerting tools
  • Storage platforms such as SAN or NAS
  • Database administration at an operational level
  • LAN, WAN and SD WAN networking
