The Role

This is a newly created standalone International Payroll Specialist position with responsibility for European payroll operations.

Payroll is currently outsourced across each country, and you'll oversee vendor management, compliance and payroll delivery while helping bring more payroll activities in-house as the business continues to grow.

The role currently covers payroll across Finland, the Netherlands, Ireland and Norway, with future expansion planned into Denmark, Germany and Spain.

Finland is the priority country, although candidates with broader European payroll experience across one or more of the key countries will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll operations across multiple European countries through external payroll providers.
  • Coordinate payroll inputs, approvals, reconciliations and payroll reporting.
  • Ensure payroll compliance with local legislation, statutory payments and tax requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Manage starters, leavers, contractual changes, bonuses, deductions and employee payroll queries.
  • Liaise with external payroll providers, finance teams and local payroll consultants.
  • Reconcile payroll data and support internal and external audits.
  • Maintain payroll records, documentation and reporting using advanced Excel.
  • Support the long-term transition of payroll activities from outsourced providers to an in-house model.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and support continued international expansion.
  • What They're Looking For
  • 3-5 years' experience managing international payroll across Europe.
  • Strong experience processing end-to-end payroll across multiple countries.
  • Previous exposure to Nordic payrolls is highly desirable, with Finland being the priority market.
  • Experience working with outsourced payroll providers and multiple payroll vendors.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong understanding of international payroll legislation and compliance.
  • Confident working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage relationships across multiple countries.
  • Experience with payroll systems such as NMBRS, Tripletex, Visma, Mepco, Hogia or similar would be advantageous.
