Head of Payroll (EMEA)

Job Title: Head of Payroll - EMEA Location: London - Hybrid (3 days in Central London Office) Salary: £85,000-100,000 plus 20% bonus Employment Type: Permanent Overview An established global retail business is seeking an experienced Head of Payroll to lead its multi-country payroll function through a period of change, improvement and continued growth. This senior leadership role will oversee payroll delivery across a substantial number of international entities, ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time and in accordance with local legislation. The successful candidate will lead the function, manage outsourced providers and strengthen the systems, controls and processes supporting payroll operations. The position would suit an accomplished international payroll leader who can combine operational oversight with strategic transformation, stakeholder management and team development. What You'll Do: Lead end-to-end payroll delivery across multiple international entities Manage and develop the payroll team Ensure compliance with relevant payroll legislation and reporting requirements Manage outsourced providers and monitor service performance Oversee payroll controls, audits, reconciliations and financial reporting Partner with HR, Finance and systems teams to improve data and processes Drive automation, systems improvements and payroll transformation What You'll Bring: Senior payroll leadership experience within a complex international organisation Strong knowledge of UK and European payroll requirements Experience managing teams and outsourced payroll providers Sound understanding of payroll compliance, controls and audit Proven success improving payroll systems and processes Strong stakeholder-management and problem-solving skills The Opportunity This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of a payroll function in need of significant improvement and transformation.
