Overview
JGA are partnered with a large, complex organisation to recruit an experienced Payroll Manager to take ownership of a high-volume, highly regulated payroll function.
This role will act as the payroll subject-matter expert, managing end-to-end payroll delivery for a diverse workforce and pensioner population, while leading and developing a specialist payroll team.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance and service quality, working closely with senior stakeholders and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the day-to-day delivery of a large, complex payroll, ensuring employees and pensioners are paid accurately and on time
- Act as the go-to payroll expert for complex queries, escalations and legislative interpretation
- Lead, support and develop a small specialist payroll team, setting clear standards and driving continuous improvement
- Ensure payroll processes remain compliant with HMRC, tax, pensions and data protection requirements
- Keep payroll systems, controls and data accurate, robust and fit for purpose
- Work closely with stakeholders and external partners to resolve issues and improve service delivery
What We’re Looking For
- An experienced Payroll Manager who has run a high-volume payroll in a complex environment
- Strong technical payroll knowledge, with confidence handling legislation and tricky calculations
- A hands-on leader who enjoys supporting and developing their team
- Comfortable dealing with audits, deadlines and senior stakeholders
- Practical experience with payroll systems and improving payroll processes
- A recognised payroll qualification or equivalent real-world experience
