An established and fast-expanding accountancy firm operating across Central and Southern England is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join its growing payroll function. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity offering hybrid and flexible working and strong long-term career prospects. This newly created role will be based within the Oxford payroll team and will play a key part in supporting the firm’s continued growth. You’ll manage end-to-end payroll services for a varied client portfolio and act as a technical point of reference for colleagues.
- Delivering payroll services for multiple clients across different sectors
- Running payrolls on weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual cycles
- Managing onboarding and offboarding of employees, statutory payments and RTI submissions
- Setting up and closing PAYE schemes with HMRC
- Handling HMRC correspondence and PAYE-related queries
- Ensuring auto-enrolment pension compliance and processing contributions
- Preparing and submitting BACS files
- Completing FPS, EPS, P45s, P60s and related documentation
- Working directly with clients to resolve payroll queries and ensure accuracy
- Supporting clients with payroll systems and processes
- Acting as a subject matter expert within the local payroll team
About you:
- Ideally CIPP qualified with 3–5 years’ UK payroll experience
- Background in an accountancy practice or payroll bureau preferred
- Confident using payroll software and adapting to new systems
- Exceptionally organised with a high level of accuracy
- Comfortable managing multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated, resilient and proactive
- Collaborative team player who can also work independently
- Keen to learn, develop and progress
