Job Description HGV Technician £JG Pears is a fourth-generation family business that grew from a livestock farm near Penistone into one of the largest names in the UK's animal by-products sector. The site at Low Marnham sits close to the Group's wider investment in the area, including a joint venture at neighbouring High Marnham building a hydrogen production facility as part of the UK's move to net zero. We're looking for experienced, fully skilled HGV Technicians (also known as HGV Mechanics or HGV Fitters) to join the team, working across a mixed fleet from leading manufacturers including Scania, Volvo and DAF, in a well-maintained, up-to-date workshop. Salary: £24.00 per hour (Days/Afters) or £27.00 per hour (Nights), paid monthly, plus overtime at time and a quarter after contracted hours Days/Afters or Nights (full shift details below) Shifts Available Days/Afters (2 roles): rotating shifts, 6:00am to 2:00pm and 2:00pm to 10:00pm, average 40-hour week, £24.00 per hour (approx. £49,920 per year based on a 40-hour week + overtime) Nights (2 roles): Monday to Friday, 10:00pm to 6:00am, average 40-hour week, £27.00 per hour (approx. £56,160 per year based on a 40-hour week + overtime) Retention bonus after a qualifying period ~£10.00 per shift for each afters shift worked ~100% MOT pass rate bonuses ~28 days holiday entitlement (pro-rata) ~ Paid breaks ~ Company pension scheme (employer contribution 3%, employee contribution 5%) ~ Company sick pay scheme ~£You'll get a varied workload across trucks and trailers from Scania, Volvo and DAF, working in a well-equipped workshop with room to build up your skills over time. Whether your background is as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, HGV Fitter or Commercial Vehicle Technician, if you're fully qualified and experienced on heavy vehicles, we want to hear from you. Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGV trucks and trailers Conducting thorough safety inspections and MOT preparation to ensure full DVSA compliance Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults on trucks and trailers Working safely and effectively within a busy workshop environment Fully qualified HGV Technician with a City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent Proven experience maintaining and repairing HGV trucks and trailers in a commercial vehicle workshop Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality and compliance standards Life assurance ~ 24/7 GP and Mental Health Support, Wellbeing and Nutrition Programmes, Second Medical Opinion, Health Resources, Emotional Wellbeing App, Smoking Cessation Support and Bereavement Counselling ~ JG Pears Rewards (retail, restaurant and gym discounts) Applicants must be qualified and experienced in maintaining and repairing HGV trucks and trailers: candidates with only car or light vehicle experience, or without the relevant HGV qualifications, won't be suitable for this one.
