About Us

JG Pears is a fourth-generation family business that grew from a livestock farm near Penistone into one of the largest names in the UK's animal by-products sector. The Group continues to invest in keeping its fleet safe, compliant and on the road across all its sites.

We're looking for an experienced Field Service Technician to join our HGV Mechanic Team, working from a fully equipped service vehicle to deliver maintenance, servicing, diagnostics and repairs to our fleet wherever it's needed.

Salary: £22.50 per hour, monthly paid, plus overtime at time and a quarter after contracted hours

Location: Based from Low Marnham, NG23 6SP, travelling to JG Pears sites as required

Working pattern: Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 4:00pm

About the Role:

This is a road-based role, working from a fully equipped service vehicle to respond to planned maintenance and breakdowns across JG Pears sites. You'll be trusted to manage your own workload independently while keeping the fleet safe, compliant and operational.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Carrying out planned servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGV trucks and trailers across JG Pears sites
  • Travelling to company sites to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
  • Responding to vehicle breakdowns and providing effective roadside and onsite support
  • Completing inspections and preventative maintenance to minimise downtime
  • Preparing vehicles for MOT and ensuring full DVSA compliance
  • Completing all maintenance records and paperwork accurately
  • Liaising with the workshop team and operational departments to prioritise repairs and maximise fleet availability
