This global consultancy with a strong UK presence is seeking to appoint a Principal Structural Engineer with a strong design background to support their structural engineering team in Bristol. The team undertakes a wide variety of projects for the private and public sector, across a range of development sectors. Their aim is to provide integrated solutions incorporating state of the art design.
We seek an experienced individual of high calibre to assist in the design and management of structural engineering works associated with a wide variety of major and challenging infrastructure projects for the private and public sector. As they look to strengthen their design and delivery capacity, they require an individual with a broad project-based background. You will be highly skilled in design, and the design process throughout all stages from concept to delivery is essential, as well as managing small teams to achieve each client's requirements. Experience in the management of other design disciplines will be helpful though not essential.
You will take individual responsibility for a range of project types, manage them independently and be the client's main point of contact. Projects range in size but may include the development of significant estate portfolios or smaller individual projects. Projects are typically a mixture of new-build and refurbishment. Sectors would include healthcare, education, defence & security, commercial, science & technology, and others.
You will lead independently and proactively on technical aspects including preparing designs, specifications, technical approval submissions, site supervision and will be fully conversant with industry design standards. There will also be the opportunity to work collaboratively with senior management on research projects and innovative initiatives.
We seek a highly skilled and enthusiastic engineer who likes a challenge and is keen to progress their career. A chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with excellent communication skills and the confidence to expand the team in time.
You will have a sound knowledge and understanding of structural engineering projects through your proven experience. You will demonstrate your abilities in producing drawings, specifications, calculations and technical reports. Additionally, strong technical knowledge including the use of ideally Tekla/Robot and basic ability with Revit.
