Responsibilities
- Perform clerical duties related to admission, discharge, and documentation of patient information while prioritizing and organizing work assignments based on changing needs in the department
- Greet patients and families and assist them in filling out necessary forms and paperwork
- Complete admission and discharge paperwork and file processing
- Develop rapport with nursing and clinical staff and respond to questions/requests from healthcare providers
- Organize and file medical information appropriately
- Answer phones and call bells; communicate clearly when receiving information from other units, physicians, and guests
- Safeguard sensitive medical information and maintain confidentiality of data pertaining to patients, clinicians, employees, and visitors
- Serve as a resource within the department for troubleshooting computer and systems usage issues
- Maintain and stock designated clerical supplies and equipment in the department
- Complete other tasks as necessary to ensure efficient operation of the department
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Proficiency with medical vocabulary and understanding of hospital policies and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient computer skills including Google Suite and related tools
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred
- Completion of a Secretarial course and/or Medical terminology course
- Previous experience as a Nursing Unit Secretary in a hospital setting
Compensation
Starting at $18.36 hourly. HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted rate is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay at the time of posting and may not reflect the full value of our total rewards package.
