Responsibilities
- Perform assigned duties under the direction of the Registered Professional Nurse.
- Demonstrate positive behaviour and the ability to implement a plan of care.
- Provide Surgeons with the appropriate sterile instruments and supplies throughout surgery.
- Accurately complete assignments within scheduled time periods, adapting to workload changes with appropriate supervision.
- Communicate pertinent patient information and potential problems to the registered nurse throughout the shift.
- Adapt work schedule to meet the needs of the unit, including willingness to float, accept room or scrub reassignments, and work overtime.
- Provide safe, direct patient care, following the plan of care and established standards.
- Display calm behaviour and appropriate judgement in emergency situations, maintaining sterility when possible.
- Participate in improvement processes of quality patient care, including unit/department PI activities.
- Ensure practice reflects Code of Ethics, NJ Department of Health regulations, JCAHO and institutional policies.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adhere to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behaviour.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must meet NJ Surgical Technologist law requirements.
- BLS required.
- 6 months OR experience strongly preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Tech Program and Certified Surgical Tech.
- Minimum 1 year surgical scrub experience preferred.
- National certification preferred.
- Self-starter who works well independently.
- Excellent time management and prioritising skills.
- Multi-tasking ability.
Compensation
Starting at $28.93 hourly. Includes base pay and additional benefits such as health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
The posted hourly rate is an estimate and does not guarantee a specific offer. Compensation may vary based on market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and departmental budget.
Eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, commissions, and shift differentials for evening, night, or weekend shifts.
