Seeking a dynamic and experienced Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to lead our Crisis Behavioral Health nursing department. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing clinical and support staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, comprehensive care to acute, complex patients. The Manager will serve as a clinical expert, provide leadership to the specialty area, and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides administrative leadership and direction for day-to-day operations of the assigned unit.
  • Develops short- and long-term goals aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Manages time and resources effectively by prioritising and delegating tasks.
  • Develops, implements, and supports activities to promote patient satisfaction within a patient-centred care framework to achieve best-practice targets.
  • Notifies appropriate stakeholders of critical events per regulatory and organisational policies.
  • Ensures team members are knowledgeable in emergency preparedness/disaster response policies and procedures.
  • Develops unit-specific response plans and participates in drills as required, mobilising unit resources as needed.
  • Promotes cost-effective use of resources and supports budget objectives.
  • Conducts financial analysis at the unit level considering case mix, acuity, workload, staffing, and costs.
  • Reviews variance analyses and implements action plans to address variances.
  • Submits monthly variance and justification reports to the Director/CNO.
  • Maintains clinical expertise, plans educational activities for patients, families, and team members, and supports professional growth opportunities to develop leadership skills.
  • Recognises and celebrates leadership accomplishments at individual and unit levels.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures related to position controls, vacancies, and disciplinary actions with appropriate documentation.
  • Establishes high standards for quality and service, leads unit-based and system-wide projects to enhance patient and family-centred care, and collaborates across departments on PDCA projects.
  • Communicates openly across levels to remove obstacles, demonstrates fair and ethical decision making, and maintains composure under pressure.
  • Manages priorities and ensures nursing care standards meet regulatory requirements; monitors compliance with DOH, JCAHO, Board of Nursing, and Magnet standards.
  • Contributes to regulatory readiness through continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Obtains thorough patient histories, conducts physical examinations, documents findings clearly, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, and formulates differential diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Communicates with collaborating physicians and other health care team members to coordinate care.
  • Ensures professional accountability and collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other team members.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned. Adheres to organisational competencies and standards of behaviour.

Qualifications:

Required Education & Experience:

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in a relevant specialty.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a leadership or administrative capacity.

Required Licenses & Certifications:

  • Current and valid New Jersey State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Current and valid New Jersey Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) License.
  • Board certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner.
  • Active DEA and New Jersey CDS registrations for prescriptive authority.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification.

Required Skills:

  • Strong proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in a Nurse Practitioner role.

Compensation:

Minimum rate of $146,057.60 Annually. Hackensack Meridian Health is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted rate is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay at the time of posting and may not reflect the full value of the total rewards package.
