The Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients. The role supports interdisciplinary collaboration, bed placement, ED throughput, rapid response, code blue, and quality improvement activities on the unit.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate and collaborate with all members of the interdisciplinary team during unit huddles and multidisciplinary rounds.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships among health‑care teams by responding to requests, building rapport, and participating in problem‑solving.
  • Collaborate and give clinical input for appropriate bed placement and prioritize ED throughput to inpatient units.
  • Proactively round on and assist nurse residents and new skill‑level staff.
  • Provide proactive management of patients at risk for clinical deterioration via surveillance of the Early Warning Score (EWS) report and house rounding.
  • Assist during rapid response and inpatient code blue calls, stabilize patients, provide support for Code Stroke, Code STEMI, Sepsis Protocol, and Targeted Temperature Management.
  • Mentor nursing staff in assessment, critical thinking, interventions, communication, and collaborative skills.
  • Participate in quality improvement, chart reviews, and productivity reporting; collect data for RRT and code blue documentation.
  • Support the unit charge RN with throughput and discharge barriers.
  • Assist unit RNs with challenging assignments or patient condition changes.
  • Maintain professional knowledge through internal workshops, publications, and committee activities.
  • Adhere to the CRN model processes, best practices, and organizational competencies.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing; current RN license in New Jersey.
  • Minimum 3 years of critical care or emergency department nursing experience.
  • Telemetry certification, titrable and non‑titrable drug knowledge.
  • Self‑direction, broad knowledge base, critical thinking, delegation, problem‑solving, protocol development.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, non‑verbal, and listening skills with adaptability.
  • Organizational skills to handle multiple complex situations simultaneously.
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite).

Preferred

  • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Compensation

Minimum annual rate: $63,797.76. The posted rate represents a reasonable estimate of the minimum base pay in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act. Total rewards include clinical, financial, and shift differentials as applicable.
