Join us as an HSSEQ Advisor and make a real impact. In this pivotal role, you will empower our teams and leaders with the knowledge, guidance, and support they need to work safely and confidently. You will help drive a proactive, high‑performing health and safety culture at site level, ensuring we meet and exceed both company expectations and statutory responsibilities. The role will require travel to operational sites across the UK and occasionally internationally to support the HSSEQ activities.
What you'll be doing:
- Act as first point of contact for HSSEQ guidance, ensuring compliance with HSSEQ systems, legislation, and ISO 45001/14001.
- Provide on-site HSE oversight and work closely with project teams to maintain HSSEQ standards and comply with Life Saving Rules.
- Give professional HSSEQ advice to management and staff in line with UK legislation and company policies.
- Support development and review of risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits and monitoring to ensure compliance with legal and company requirements.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses using root cause analysis; implement corrective actions and support RIDDOR reporting.
- Promote a positive safety culture through engagement, behavioural safety initiatives, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Provide HSSEQ input across project planning and execution to embed requirements throughout.
- Support continuous improvement of HSSEQ management systems aligned with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.
- Monitor and report HSSEQ performance, identify trends, share lessons learned and lead safety campaigns and safety quick shares.
- Oversee contractor HSSEQ management, including documentation reviews and site monitoring.
- Support environmental compliance activities such as waste management, environmental risk control and pollution prevention in line with ISO 14001.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in a similar HSSEQ/HSE role.
- NEBOSH General Certificate.
- Strong understanding of Safe System of Work principles.
- Experience conducting accident/incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.
- Internal auditing experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to work effectively under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effective team player with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
- Professional communication skills with the ability to engage at all organisational levels, including with customers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to obtain and maintain BPSS clearance.
- IOSH membership.
- External auditing experience.
- Fire Risk Assessor qualification.
- PUWER Assessor experience.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- DSE Assessor training.
