Jewson, a leading building materials distributor in Northern Europe and part of Stark UK, is looking for a Mill Machinist who is passionate about great service and based in the Isle of Wight. The role will operate at our Trafalgar Rd, IOW branch.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Our Timber Mill Machinists are essential to the smooth running of the business, ensuring products are on time.
- Good grasp of Health & Safety requirements in an operational environment.
- Awareness and understanding of health and safety standards applicable to machinery or mechanical handling equipment.
- Awareness and understanding of health and safety standards applicable to working in a timber processing plant and timber storage and distribution site.
- Ability to carry out routine inspections.
- Ability to understand, complete and maintain all documentation associated and required by the role.
- Ability to work as a team player within the timber processing plant and overall site operation.
- Operating a variety of woodworking machinery such as band resaw, planer/thicknesser, five‑headed moulder, spindle moulder, profile grinder, cross‑cut.
- Working across various tasks in the mill including quality control, stacking of machine timber and housekeeping.
- Adherence to EHS standards by keeping the work area tidy, cleaning daily and rigorously maintaining machinery.

Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm
