Job Profile – Customer Service Assistant – Distribution
Job Purpose: To undertake warehouse and yard duties to ensure customer needs are met, promote and maximise sales and margins by providing excellent customer service whilst maintaining a safe environment that is in line with company policies and procedures.

Skills/Qualifications/Experience
CUSTOMER SALES
Contribute towards an excellent customer experience and work towards Branch sales and profit targets by:
- Fulfilling customer orders in a timely fashion
- Checking incoming products against Proof of Delivery
- Completing documentation as necessary
- Building effective relationships with customers and suppliers
- Understanding local market issues and communicating to Manager to support sales growth plans
- Reporting missing or damaged products to management
Constantly try to improve performance to achieve your:
- On time in full KPIs
- Pick error reductions
- Stock damage reductions
- Improvements to your Branch’s Customer Score
- Environmental, Health and Wellbeing targets
You’ll Need To:
- Look for new ways of working to improve efficiency
- Ensure customers have a good experience
- Be open to learning new things
- Have good attention to detail to ensure orders are accurate
- Utilise the wider network to support customer requirements and business activities
Essential
- A basic understanding of the market and product knowledge
- Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Flexible and enthusiastic attitude
- Customer service focus
- IT literate
- Ability to build and maintain successful relationships
Desirable
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths & English
- Relevant forklift licence
- Experience in a sales/customer-focused role
OPERATIONAL COMPLIANCE
Support Line Manager To:
- Deliver key KPIs for your branch
- Manage loading and unloading processes
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Safeguard Company’s stock, money, and assets
- Enhance safety and wellbeing culture and meet targets
Deliver Operational Compliance For Your Branch By:
- Ensuring safety for yourself and others
- Achieving stock management and PPI progress
- Increasing customer service scores
- Adhering to principles of conduct
- Being passionate about customer service and health & safety
- Ensuring business control compliance, including EDM
- Signing risk assessments
- Maintaining confidentiality of prices
STOCK AND LOGISTICS
Support Line Manager To:
- Prepare the 30-day countdown
- Complete the stock management process
- Optimize returns on sales versus transport costs
- Reduce stock losses
- Maintain a clean, safe, and tidy environment
- Manage escalation of missing/damaged product info
Improve The Branch’s Stock And Logistics By:
- Ensuring stock rotation
- Minimising shrinkage
- Ensuring compliance with stock policy
- Ensuring compliance with the Always Available range
