Overview

Registering as a volunteer can open up up a world of volunteering opportunities. To deliver beginner piano lessons to autistic people and those with a learning disability. To offer fun and engaging sessions building piano skills and an appreciation of music. To create meaningful connections with adults with learning difficulties and autism based on a shared interest. To encourage playing piano independently, along with the development of social skills and organisational skills. To enrich the broader cultural life of the environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver beginner piano lessons to autistic people and those with a learning disability.
  • Offer fun and engaging sessions that build piano skills and an appreciation of music.
  • Create meaningful connections based on shared interest.
  • Encourage independent piano playing and the development of social and organisational skills.
  • Enrich the broader cultural life of the environment.

What additional skills or experience you should have

  • Patience, calmness, open and friendly demeanor.
  • Piano teaching experience (not necessary) and an openness to learning from others.
  • Enthusiasm for playing piano and musical appreciation.
  • DBS required (processed and paid for by Kisharon Langdon).

What training we will provide for you

All Kisharon Langdon volunteers with the Hive will have an induction for the role and an opportunity to discuss any questions and queries you may have.

Availability

Morning, Afternoon, Evening; Monday to Sunday. We are happy to be flexible on location and/or times if required.

Kisharon Langdon provides the Jewish community with vital support for hundreds of people with learning disabilities and autism and their families. The services, located over multiple sites, cater for the needs of people with learning disabilities and autism at every stage of their lives—from a nursery and school, right through to residential services, social enterprises and work opportunities. Kisharon Langdon provides support for each individual to develop their potential and live a fulfilling life within the community.
