The vocational service supports clients to access, prepare for and maintain vocational activity (this includes volunteering, education, skills training, and paid employment). We provide one‑to‑one support including needs assessment, signposting, support with vocational activity searches and applications, interview preparation and coaching, support with developing routines, time management, and confidence building. We are looking for a volunteer who can commit for 12 months, at least one day a week.

Responsibilities

  • Support clients in job exploration.
  • Assist with completing job applications.
  • Proofread CVs, cover letters, and personal statements.
  • Prepare clients for interviews through mock sessions and coaching.
  • Support education and training applications.
  • Encourage motivation and confidence throughout the process.
  • Support clients in navigating emails and other technology.

JAMI is a recovery‑oriented mental health charity serving the Jewish community. The organisation is committed to working alongside statutory services to provide a high quality community‑based service which enables people to maximise their potential and take control of their own recovery. It was established in 1989 by parents, relatives and friends of people who suffer from mental ill health. In 2013 Jami became responsible for the running of the community’s non‑residential mental health provision, creating a single mental health service for the Jewish community in London and the South East. Working alongside statutory services, Jami is committed to supporting people to fulfil their potential, maximise their self‑esteem and progress along their own unique pathway towards recovery. Jami’s focus is on recovery from mental illness. We support people at any point on their recovery journey, helping them to develop the skills to live life to the full.
