This role is to support residents around mealtimes, engaging residents in conversation and encouraging them to eat well. One or two sessions per week with ongoing commitment. Either breakfast session 9 – 10.30 a.m. or lunch session 12.30 – 1.30 p.m. or possibility of staying all morning to cover both. To assist Jewish Care’s care and support staff in the smooth running of mealtimes to support residents across Jewish Care residential care homes. Volunteers will receive relevant training as well as the support and guidance of staff within the homes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents to come to the meal tables
  • Support residents to make choices about what they want to eat
  • Encourage residents to eat well
  • Engage residents in conversation to make mealtimes pleasurable and sociable
